Binalonan conducts two-day workshop to update Comprehensive Land Use Plan

Binalonan, Pangasinan – The local government unit (LGU) of Binalonan conducted a two-day Visioning – Planning Process Workshop on February 6-7, 2023, to update their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP). The workshop, led by Mayor Ramon Ronald V. Guico IV and the Municipal Planning and Development Office, was held at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall and attended by municipal officials, department heads, selected municipal employees, heads of civil society organizations (CSOs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The workshop was facilitated by the Project Team from the University of the Philippines School of Urban and Regional Planning in Diliman, tasked with helping Binalonan identify its strengths and opportunities in the social, economic, infrastructure, environmental, and institutional sectors. The aim was to create a vision for Binalonan that would improve its competitive standing within the Province of Pangasinan.

In the workshop, participants were divided into groups and asked to identify the municipality’s strengths and opportunities, considering their impact on the town’s inward and outward-looking components. Each group presented its outputs for discussion and critiquing, ensuring that all ideas were explored and taken into account.

The updating of the CLUP is crucial for Binalonan’s future, as it will maximize opportunities to improve the town’s competitive standing in the province. The workshop allowed the LGU and the project team to identify the areas that needed improvement, and to work together to come up with a plan that would best benefit the town.

Mayor Guico IV stressed the importance of the workshop, stating that “The Comprehensive Land Use Plan is the roadmap for the town’s development. It is imperative that we update it to reflect the current realities and future aspirations of our municipality. The visioning and planning workshop is an essential step towards achieving this goal.”

The LGU of Binalonan is committed to ensuring that its constituents’ needs are addressed and prioritized in the updating of the CLUP. The workshop was a crucial step in the development of Binalonan, and the LGU looks forward to implementing the plan that was formulated through the visioning and planning process.
