IATF Raises COVID-19 Alert Level 1 in Region 1, Including Pangasinan and Dagupan City

The Interagency Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has raised COVID-19 Alert Level 1 in Region 1, which includes Pangasinan and Dagupan City, effective from April 15-30, 2023. The move comes in response to the current situation in the region and the need to protect the public against the spread of the virus.

Resolution No. 6-C series of 2023, which places several areas under alert level, was signed by Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire and Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos on April 14, 2023. The decision was made after careful consideration of the COVID-19 situation in the region and consultations with local officials.

The Alert Level System is a guide for the public’s protection against COVID-19. Under Alert Level 1, intrazonal and interzonal travel is permitted with no restrictions based on age and co-morbidities. This means that people are free to move around within the region and to travel to other areas outside of the region with no restrictions. However, the public is still reminded to practice minimum public health standards such as wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequent handwashing.

The DOH and local government officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and continue to follow health protocols to prevent the spread of the virus. The IATF also reminds the public that the Alert Level System is subject to change based on the COVID-19 situation in the region.
