Local Broadcaster and Three Others Arrested for Alleged Robbery Extortion in San Carlos City
SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – Four individuals, including a local broadcaster, were arrested by authorities for alleged robbery extortion in the city. According to Col. Jeff Fanged, the director of Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, the suspects have been identified as Ronald Sison, a broadcaster from a local radio station; Bryan Caballero, Arvin Garin, and Alejandro Caldona.
Victims reported to the authorities that the suspects demanded money from them in exchange for the protection of their amusement park. The victims stated that the suspects asked for PHP10,000 as “protection money.” Fanged stated that “Because of fear, the victims gave the suspects the money they demanded.” Sison was reportedly carrying a gun during the incident.
After the victims reported the incident to the police, a follow-up operation was conducted, leading to the arrest of the suspects Sunday night. A .45-caliber pistol, ammunition, empty magazines, and identification cards were seized from their possession.
Criminal charges are being prepared against the suspects and the investigation is ongoing. The arrest serves as a warning to those who engage in illegal activities and a reassurance to the public that the authorities are committed to maintaining peace and order.
